Theater
Charles R. Wood Theater
The Charles R. Wood Theater is a 501(c)3 nonprofit, performing arts center with nearly 350 events each year, including theater performances, musicals, concerts, dance performances, meetings, parties, weddings, rehearsals, auditions and educational classes. Recognized as the year-round home for the performing arts and a vital component in the growth and success of the lower Adirondack region, the Charles R. Wood theater now offers a large rehearsal space, office space, technical set building space, and fully ADA-compliant dressing rooms, as well as a 294 seat auditorium with fully professional and updated technical systems. Adirondack Theater Festival (ATF)
The ATF is a professional, not-for-profit summer theater located right in Glens Falls. Their mission statement states that they strive “to challenge, entertain, and nourish its audience through the development and production of new and contemporary musicals and plays.” Using performances as well as workshops, discussions, and educational programming to engage the community, the ATF operates under a Small Professional Theatre Agreement with Actors’ for meEquity Association and all of their actors are professionals that have worked on and off-Broadway, as well as on TV and in movies. A typical 6-week summer season includes 3 mainstage productions, a new play/musical workshop, and a late night slot for cabaret or more adventurous productions. ATF is the only professional summer theater in the Capital District and Adirondack regions of upstate NY committed to only producing new and contemporary works, with original shows that are never more than five years old.
Adirondack Ballet Theater
This non-profit was created to provide performance opportunities for area children in a variety of dance styles. Children also have the opportunity to perform with professional dancers while also learning from them in this community setting.
Arts
North Country ARTS (NCA)
NCA is a non-profit organization established in 1971 for artists, artisans, and people interested in the arts. This is a volunteer-run organization that provides opportunities for artists in the North Country area. Featuring galleries that showcase paintings, photography, varied types of crafts, jewelry, sculpture, books, music, and gifts, they also offer workshops, newsletters, and brochures to introduce their artists and artisans. NCA has also recently been awarded a grant to create a new program for three areas of the arts: Fine Arts, Music and the Performing Arts, and Literature.
Lower Adirondack Regional Arts Council (LARAC)
The LARAC was, founded in 1972 to help unify the arts community and establish a cultural identity for the region. Their mission is to support local artistic tradition while challenging and inspiring the community’s vision of what art is and how it contributes to life. Offering exhibits, workshops, lectures, readings, and demonstrations for both kids and adults, the LARAC also offers services for artists and other arts organizations including seminars, gallery, shop exhibition opportunities, festivals, grants, and more.
The Hyde Collection
Located in Glens Falls, The Hyde Collection was founded by Charlotte Hyde, with a vision of an art museum that would adapt and change as circumstances and opportunities arose. Holding true to her vision, the museum is constantly evolving, recently opening the Feibes & Schmitt Gallery, dedicated to the exhibition of Modern and Contemporary art year round. This new collection more than doubles the museum’s holding of Modern art with the new 1,500 square foot gallery.
Adirondack Productions and Theater, Inc.
Adirondack Productions and Theater is a local not for profit theater program which provides an opportunity for self expression and personal growth through performing and visual arts for adults 18 and over, including those with disabilities.
The Blackburn Gallery and Creative Custom Framing Center
The Blackburn features original watercolors, oils, photography, prints, jewelry, and stained glass on a varied selection of subjects and local interests, as well as custom framing options for any budget.
Adirondack Folk School
Located just a drive from Queensbury in beautiful Lake Luzerne, the Adirondack Folk School teaches arts, crafts, and cultural heritage unique to the Adirondack region. Skilled Adirondack craftsman take part in teaching everything from pack basket weaving to boat building, fiber arts, blacksmithing and more. there are demonstrations, storytellers, and special programs.

SUNY Adirondack
SUNY Adirondack presents a host of arts and cultural events, from art and cultural exhibits, to conferences and lecture series on regional, national and international topics.
World Awareness Children’s Museum
Chartered by the New York State Education Department and Board of Regents in 1995, this interactive museum is on a mission to bring the diverse world to children by inspiring curiosity, understanding, and appreciation of worldwide cultural diversity. This collection features over 8,000 artifacts and over 7,000 pieces of art from over 140 different countries.
Chapman Historical Museum
The Chapman presents the history of the Glens Falls – Queensbury community and its connection to the Adirondack area. Includes a research center, artifacts & archival materials, exhibitions and programs, photographs, gift shop, and more!
The Sembrich Museum
Located in nearby Bolton Landing, The Sembrich Museum is in honor of international opera singer Marcella Sembrich (1858-1935), providing a legacy of historical significance, and providing educational and performance opportunities to promote the study of classical music. The Museum is located at her former teaching studio and woodland retreat on Lake George.
Folklife Center at Crandall Public Library
This is an award-winning program with a mission to preserve and present the cultural traditions of the southern Adirondacks and the upper Hudson Valley. Includes gallery, archives, and cultural programs.
